Dear Readers,
Three years ago (August 2011) I wrote two posts (links below) concerning the importance of the 9th of Av – commemorated every year by the Jews as a day of mourning and fasting. Today, August 4 sundown to Tuesday, August 5 nightfall is the 9th of Av on the Jewish calendar.
Those of us who are not Jewish do not often consider the import of the Jewish calendar. However, when I was writing Desert Days back then, my study led me to a message in the Word of God that has great significance not only to the Jews, but also to believers grafted into the Vine, the Lord Jesus Christ.
I have sensed the past few days that these two posts are to be shared again for this time in which our world, its nations and its people find themselves. Israel is once again at the top of the newsfeed, and what I did not know until a few moments ago as I prepared to write this introduction is that today, August 4, is also the birthday of our U.S. President Barack Obama.
I do not purport to speak of political implications; rather, my posts remain purposed for the spiritual implications the Lord opened up to me three years ago. It remains a fresh and timely word, and in this season now, a call to increased prayer and intercession from a posture of believing Him Who is called Faithful and True (Revelation 19:11).
Desert Days – Standing at the Border begins the content about the 9th of Av, followed up by Desert Days – The Eye of the Needle.
In offering to Him and you,
