Do you know that God has no desire to take advantage of you?
He’s the only Gentleman whose word is always redeemable, not left unfulfilled because He changed his mind. He is Mr. Consistent. If He promised it, He is good for it.
“Every generous act of giving and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father who made the heavenly lights, in whom there is no inconsistency or shifting shadow.” James 1:17 ISV
Have you come to the conclusion yet that in the here and now, God is the “Been there, done that”?
He is the ultimate Scholar who affirms the God-given knowledge gained by academics, lifelong learners, and seekers of truth, while single-handedly reminding us that only He can bear the full weightiness that knowledge may bring with it.
“Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding?” Isaiah 40:14 NIV
Superior to a gentleman’s handshake, His firm right hand is the clasp of safety and security for those who cling to Him. He’s the only One who can hold our personal domain (everything we steward and which concerns us) securely in His nail-scarred palm.
“For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13 NIV
This Gentleman opens doors for us, leading us on by His foreknowledge of who we were made to be before He, as the Highest Scholar, spoke the worlds into existence.
And though He is a Man of Independent Means, engaging in no occupation or profession for gain, He is the One who puts the “gentle” into Gentleman.
“Come to Me, all those laboring and being burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 LITV
There is something so appealing, so inviting, about spending time in the company of such a One. The two on the Way to Emmaus (Luke 24:13), when the risen Christ joined them in that day’s journey, experienced Him as both Gentleman and Scholar. They started out visiting with the Gentleman in disguise, but before long they were listening to the very Word expounding on Himself from the beginning. Truly they were companioning with The Scholar, the One who knows everything. No wonder they felt their hearts burn within them! How much more may we with the Holy Spirit residing within us?
May the Gentleman and the Scholar capture your attention this week, even on “that same day” that you have need of His visitation. He is orchestrating your life and mine.
So grateful He has it all under control,
Nancy Charlene
