Basis for Biblical Counseling
Shammahs Field LLC was formed to meet the needs of those who have sought the Lord Jesus Christ, yet struggle in some area of their life that remains unaffected by their efforts to be free, healed, or whole. We offer counseling founded on biblical principles and God’s truth, with prayer ministry. Isaiah’s prophecy in chapter 61 speaks to the calling God has placed upon us:
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD And the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. ~
Isaiah 61:1-3 (NAS)
Many have been diagnosed with any number of our modern day maladies, ie. Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Bipolar Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Ritual Abuse (RA/SRA) – to name a few. In addition, many illnesses, diseases, and conditions resist treatment by modern medical practices.
At Shammahs Field LLC we look for areas in the person’s life that may be hindering or blocking them from fully receiving the benefits of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. We have found this process of inviting the Holy Spirit to reveal areas of our life that are out of alignment with God’s purposes or opposed to God’s Word, effective in bringing healing or freedom to many.
He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. ~
Isaiah 53:3-6 (NAS)
Our personal redemptive journey with the Lord has involved, and continues to bring us to, many encounters with the living Christ to effect the transformation necessary to become all He created us to be. He loves us too much to leave us unchanged. ~
